The Ansari Charitable Trust was founded in 1979, to provide compassionate and dedicated service to society in the areas of education, healthcare and social welfare paying special attention to orphans and destitute.
Late Jb. A V Abdul Majeed Saheb, a native of Chavakkad, later settled in Perumpilavu and a businessman in Qatar, ignited the first spark of his long-cherished dream at a meeting of 13 prominent personalities he convened in 1979 at Shantapuram Lodge, Perintalmanna, Malappuram. The participants, who included Late Jb. Shereef Moulavi, Late Jb. Abdul Ahad Thangal, Late Jb. Pookoya Thangal, Jb. K K Mammunni Moulavi, decided to give life to the idea proposed by Jb. Majeed Saheb by forming Ansari Charitable Trust nominating, from among them, Late Jb. Mohammed Abul Jalal Moulvai as life time Chairman and Jb. Majeed Saheb and Late Jb. Mala Abdul Salam Moulavi as life time Vice Chairman. Late Jb. P K Raheem Saheb was nominated as the first Secretary and Late Jb. V K Usman Saheb was nominated as the first Asst. Secretary.
The Trust was formed with 25 members contributing a land of 4.35 acres owned by Mrs. Jameela Abdul Majeed, wife of Jb. Majeed Saheb. However, the Trust, on suggestion of Late. Jb. Abdul Salam Moulavi and Late. Jb. C Ahamu Saheb, decided to establish the first institution – Ansar English School – at the current site for better visibility and accessibility.
Ansar English School started functioning in 1982 in a shed on the property of Jb. Hydrose Saheb and moved to new building in Ansar campus in 1984, five years after formation of the Trust. The first management committee consisting of Late Jb. T B Kunjimon Saheb (then Joint Secretary), Late Jb. V S Kunhimohammed Saheb, Late Jb. C Ahamu Saheb and Usman Saheb under the leadership of Abul Jalal Moulavi and P K Raheem Saheb toiled against all odds to build up the Ansar group of institutions – 13 institutions spanning from elementary to postgraduate education and to mental and physical healthcare institutions. It upholds and disseminates the divine message of compassion, righteousness, human values, equality of human beings etc. by the propagation of literacy, learning and the creation of high moral consciousness, it has shaped the future of thousands of students from the length and breadth of India.
The Ansar campus is ideally located at Perumpilavu in Thrissur District in the middle of Kerala. It is now home to a Senior Secondary School, an accredited centre of National Open Schooling (NIOS), an Orphanage, an Arts & Science College for Women, a College for Teacher Education, an IGNOU Study Centre, a Special school for Mentally Challenged Children, a Nursing School and a well-equipped Hospital with specialties in Mental and Psychological health.
Ansari Charitable Trust is currently led by Jb. K K Mammunni Moulavi, Chairman, Jb. K V Mohammed and Jb. M V Salim Moulavi, Vice Chairman, Jb. E A Kunjahammed, Secretary and Jb. Shaju Mohammedunni, Administrator.
